How to Book

Booking an alteration appointment is simple. We recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks before you need the item returned — earlier for wedding dresses and complex competition dress work.

Common questions
Do you alter curtains and soft furnishings?
Yes — we shorten, reline and alter curtains, make cushion covers to measure, repair duvet covers, and adjust Roman blinds. Bring your curtains or furnishings to our studio in Stevenston and we will advise on the best approach and provide a quote.
Can you alter a wedding dress in North Ayrshire?
Yes. Wedding dress alterations are one of our most requested services. We recommend booking your first appointment at least 6–8 weeks before the wedding to allow time for fitting, alterations, and a follow-up appointment. We work with all fabrics including delicate lace, silk, and beaded gowns.
Do you alter everyday clothing — trousers, jackets, coats?
Absolutely. We alter all types of everyday clothing for men, women and children — trousers (hem, waist, taper), jackets and blazers (sleeves, shoulders, waist), coats, skirts, shirts, school uniforms and more. No brand is too specialist or too everyday.
Do you alter competition dance dresses?
Yes — with 34 years of experience making and altering competition dresses, Renata is one of the most experienced competition dress alteration specialists in Scotland. We work on Ballroom gowns, Latin dresses, Juvenile dancewear, and practice wear — from all brands, at all levels.
How much do alterations cost?
Pricing depends on the type and complexity of work. Simple hems start from around £15. Zip replacements from £15–£25 (for sewing in). Wedding dress alterations are quoted individually after an in-person assessment. We always confirm pricing before any work begins — no surprises.
How far in advance do I need to book?
For everyday alterations and repairs, 1 week is usually sufficient. For wedding dresses, we recommend 2–4 weeks minimum. For competition dress work ahead of a specific event, 3–4 weeks is ideal. Contact us as early as possible — we will always be transparent about availability.
